Assoc. Prof. Dr.Siripen Ungsitipoonporn

Dr. Siripen Ungsitipoonporn is an Assistant Professor in Linguistics at the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia (RILCA), Mahidol University. She received her PhD in Linguistics from Mahidol University. Her areas of specialization include language description, documentation, revitalization and archiving, mother-tongue based multilingual education, and Chinese linguistics with a particular focus on Hakka. She has continuously received research funding for several projects from Newton Fund, among which an outstanding research project is “The ethnic group digital archive project: Promoting the protection and preservation of language and culture diversity in Thailand” (https://langarchive-th.org/). The output from the mentioned project received an outstanding invention award (good level) in 2021 from the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) for the project entitled “Archive of Languages and cultures of ethnic groups of Thailand”. Furthermore, she also conducts research in Thai-Chinese studies and has collaboration network with numerous universities in China.
