Course description


Pioneered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Apinya Buasuang, the field of museum studies at RILCA has been promoted since 1991 and developed into a Master of Arts program. The 2023 museum studies course was established as the first and only museum studies major in Thailand.

The program aims to produce graduates who are both practical and theoretical experts, who have research skills that can be applied to solve problems. Students are taught to be experts deft in the skills of ethics and leadership in the academic realm and professions, especially those on the GLAM (Gallery Library Archive Museum) career path. Graduates focus on developing lifelong learning to promote social equality and raising awareness in museum design and sustainable development, with the aim being to develop people through knowledge and innovation and promoting the principle: Museum is well, society is happy.

Course Highlights
  • The first and only museum studies program in Thailand developed with 30 years of experience in the field
  • Three dimensions of museum work: 1. preservation of cultural heritage 2. audience experience design; and 3. management.
  • Consortium among industry and academia that forms a solid relationships between teachers and students around the nature of research work and co-learning

Flat-rate fee

Paid per semester (in Baht)


Regular Program : 35,000 THB per semester

The fee for field trip is 10,000 Baht, payable once throughout the course.

Remark : The expenditure is the same for all study plans, both for Thai and international students.

*Foreign students entering the Thai program must provide Thai language test results that adhere to the criteria set by the Graduate School.
*Applicants with no English language scores or scores that do not meet the minimum criteria for admission are eligible to apply.

  1. Have a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in any field of study.
  2. Have published at least one article in national or international journals, or possess research experience of not less than 2 years.
  3. Other qualifications are subject to determination by the Graduate School.
  4. Individuals with qualifications differing from the above criteria may be considered for admission at the discretion of the course chair and the Dean of the Graduate School.
