Course description


The Ph.D. Program in Multicultural Studies offers a comprehensive curriculum exploring issues of ethno-cultural diversity, majority-minority relations, culture and citizenship which result in the unequal power structure in the society, particularly in the context of Southeast Asia, China and India. Students in the program explore issues of social discrimination and exclusion faced by ethnic minorities, migrants and refugees.

Regular Program : 60,000 thb.

Remark : The expenditure is the same for all study plans, both for Thai and international students.

Criteria for application

  1. IELTS 3.0
  2. TOEFL-iBT 32
  3. MU GRAD PLUS (MU GRAD TEST + SPEAKING) 40
  4. MU GRAD TEST 40

*An applicant without the above-mentioned qualifications may be taken into consideration by the Program Committee in conjunction with the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

  1. Hold a master's degree in the social sciences or humanities from an educational institution certified by the Office of the Higher Education Commission.
  2. Achieve a cumulative grade point average of not less than 3.50.
  3. Have English language test results according to the criteria specified by the Graduate School at Mahidol University.
  4. Be the first author or the principal investigator in an article related to multiculturalism, published in an internationally accepted academic journal with peer review, within the last 5 years, with at least 1 academic work.
  5. Applicants with qualifications other than the above criteria may be considered for application and selection. Admission is at the discretion of the Program Chair and the Dean of the Graduate School.

  2. Attained a cumulative grade point average at the honors level.
  3. Have English language test results according to the criteria specified by the Graduate School at Mahidol University.
  4. Applicants with qualifications other than the above criteria may be considered for admission at the discretion of the Program Chair and the Dean of the Graduate School.
